Hey there! Just a quick update letting everyone know that I am still in Phase 1 of the migration. This means that *no one’s* stream is being affected in any way. This phase is to get the data saved off server side so it can be restored for Phase 4. I will send notice out in advance before moving onto another phase. UPDATE: MIGRATION/MOVE — THE PHASES

I’m sorry if I confused anyone with my video/notices. There will be phases of the migration (move). Please note that if you are on server that ends in 38.242, you can ignore this message as you are already on a new server with the updated new control panel!

Phase 1 which will begin on the 13th will not directly affect anyone’s stream so they will still be usable. This phase is to get copies all of all the data off the servers whether that is by the customer or by me. No streams will be deleted or anything in this phase. Once ALL data has been safely saved to be re-uploaded, we will begin the next phase.

Phase 2: We will wipe the server IP ending in 147 then do a complete
re-installation of said server as if I just ordered it brand new.

Phase 3: We will begin the process of installing the new streaming control panel onto the server.

Phase 4: We will start the process of recreating stream accounts onto this server that were there before.

Phase 5: We will begin the process of saving the data from the server IP ending in 30.242. Once we have saved all the data on this server, we will then move them to the 147 server. Once all moved, the server ending in 30.242 will be terminated.

I will send notice of each phase. I will *not* remove any account until I know for sure data is saved somewhere. I will contact each person one by one so phase 1 will definitely be the *Longest* of the phases. This may start on the 13th and I’m hoping to get it all done by the 17th BUT it may take more or less time. I will keep everyone informed by our website & all other notice platforms that I use to keep communication with to customers.

There will be downtime, I cannot prevent that because the server 147 will have to be reinstalled as a fresh new server in order to install the streaming control panel – there is no way around that. BUT it shouldn’t take that long. The time consuming part will be putting streams back onto the server so I do apologize for that.

Backups are all on me so you’ll be reimbursed for as long as this migration is in progress, however, please keep in mind that I will not reimburse anyone anymore time than it takes for the migration to be completed so please don’t put a lot of time on the rental that you are using temporarily as it won’t be transferred over.

WebPros, the owner of cPanel, has announced several PRICE INCREASES THAT WILL TAKE EFFECT ON JANUARY 1ST, 2022. So, because of this, it has been decided that Hostcrate will be moving away from using cPanel after all. These two servers are currently using this software so we will need to – simply put – do a fresh start on these servers so they have to be reinstalled as if it was a fresh out the oven server that was ordered. We *WON’T* be keeping server IP that ends in 30.242 so anyone on that server will be moved onto 147 once it has been reinstalled with the new control panel. We will in the near future be ordering a new server to replace the server we aren’t keeping just FYI.

*** Please *** make sure that you have all of your data backed up if you are using the playlist features & have music uploaded as that will not be able to be transferred over. This will cause unavoidable downtime for these servers so I highly recommend that you have a backup stream – note that new streams that are set for rent at our office are already using the new control panel software so you can rent a temp stream that way or get a backup somewhere else reputable. It is *always* a good idea to have a backup stream as technology isn’t perfect anywhere you go.

This will begin on December 13th, 2021 & the expected date to be finished is on December 17th, 2021. It may take longer or a shorter time frame however which way we will keep you posted along the entire process via this webpage!

Once the servers have been reinstalled, I will begin the process of putting accounts back onto it. You will receive a notecard & IM once I have done yours. Please note that while I will do my very best to keep your info the same, it may not be possible (specifically the port just in case it is in use by another as I merge those from the other server onto this one).

Please note that if you have a custom URL, you won’t be able to use it as a hosting page where you have a player/website on it, your url will turn into your control panel login page. That is the only downfall to this control panel however it has quite a number of features like being able to schedule your playlists, an internal uploader so you don’t have to use a separate FTP like FileZilla, etc. So far many of those who have requested transfers have loved the new control panel so I hope you will too.

Custom URL’s will be at an additional fee of L$75/week & will include premium support until I have done all of the transfers for existing customers. If you choose not to keep your custom URL, that is quite understandable. Premium support will be an additional fee for those not directly affected by this specific move.

I GREATLY apologize for this — quite frankly — pain in the ass process but I would rather do this than have to increase pricing each time that the company does it, it isn’t fair and I do everything on my end to keep prices as low as possible as I understand and highly dislike when it happens to our bills in RL.

UPDATE: Regarding Transfers

I wasn’t expecting to receive the overwhelming response from my last notice. (https://news.hostcrate.stream/2021/11/broken-streams-from-forced-ssl/)

Whew, so let me update you all and give you all the details in getting moved over. Please read this post in full so you don’t miss any important details.

First, let me clear some stuff up.

1: The server isn’t broken. This is only happening because Google changed it’s web browser (Chrome) to force SSL so when someone would enter their stream URL which we use just the IP address, it would not allow it to be listened to. This happened for any provider who used an IP address. An SSL needs to have a domain attached to it to use an SSL. Other browsers have followed suit.

2: I have had on 2 cases where I had to switch customers to the new server who were having issues where people couldn’t hear their streams while they were broadcasting – in 1 case not even the owner of the stream could hear it. However, I have since received messages that this has happened to others but they are just now reporting it as they just figured it was an SL issue.

3: If you have a custom url (example:whateveriwant.hostcrate.com/net), the new server isn’t capable of using subdomains so I can’t move your custom URL to the new server with the stand-alone software. I have already spoken to the developers about this & they have made it clear that it isn’t possible on their end to do this. HOWEVER, you should be ok and be able to use your custom URL (as it is a subdomain) to have your stream be listened to instead of just your stream’s IP:port as an SSL can be attached to your custom url via your control panel. I can help you with this just feel free to reach out!

4: Please be patient. I will be going in order via the transfer request. I am only 1 human being.

5: I cannot guarantee that your information will remain the same. I will do my best to but there will be cases where it isn’t possible whether that is because the port number is already in use or etc.

6: Please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/kKFWPNPNz5HCZzvU6Β  — Please make sure to include all of your stream details in the box where it asks. I cannot create your account just by your stream url. I *will* contact you directly by IM (or by whatever means you stated in that form you wish to be contacted by when I am on yours. I will NOT begin until I know it is all clear as I don’t want to interrupt anyone who may be in the middle of a set.

That is all for now. I will update THIS POST if anything changes or I need to update you in any way about this particular situation.

I have successfully rebooted all servers with the updates. All streams that have premium support have been restarted for you. If you don’t have the premium support service, you will need to log into your control panel & click the start button to begin streaming again.

As informed before, the scheduled server reboot will begin at 4AM SLT (About 20 minutes).

This may take a bit longer than normal as there will be updates to every server being done. If you don’t have premium support, your stream will *not* be started for you so you’ll have to log into your control panel & click start before you can begin streaming again.

Another notice will be sent once the reboots have been completed.

Reboot Reminder (July 2021)

Reboots for all servers will be performed on July 15th at 4AM SLT. If you have premium support, your stream will be started for you. If you don’t then you will have to log into your control panel & click start to begin broadcasting once again.
