Server ending in 242 Reminder

A friendly reminder that per our scheduled server maintenance, server ending in 242 will be rebooted tomorrow Monday May 11th at 5PM SLT (PST). If you have premium support, your stream will be started for you. Otherwise you will need to log into your control panel & click the green start button.

We are aware that the radio players are not working when you are using SSL (https) on your stream page/control panel page. The software we use is not supporting the SSL on radios now especially when using Google Chrome. The developers have now released a [beta] version of their software that does support SSL on all radios. We say the word beta because it does not support subdomains (at this time but they are in discussion of adding the feature at some point). so with this software we will be unable to offer a custom URL (subdomains). The software is still in the testing stages so if there is any bugs or issues, we’d like to be able to report those before using the software for live streams.
We will be getting a dedicated server to running their stand alone software version within a month or two. We will be offering those in our beta testing group the opportunity to test out these streams before we completely commit to this software for streams going forward.

Another note is the server ending in 242 will be rebooted Monday April 13th, 2020 at 5PM SLT. If you don’t have premium support then you *will* have to turn on your stream using your control panel. Here is a tutorial on how to do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YJn6-wKKRQ

QUESTION: so til the beta is out ill still have issues streaming wiht the streams
ANSWER: It doesn’t affect streaming itself – it affects the radio players when you go to your stream URL on google chrome when the webpage is on https. Example: http://ipaddress:port will not break the player but https:.//ipaddress:port will not play on the page or not load on Google Chrome. Google Chrome is the only browser as of right now that has that result. No other browser has been reported to be affected.

Hey there! I greatly apologize that I was not able to do the server reboot at the scheduled time yesterday. My husband & I had to deal with an RL matter which I won’t get into. The reboots will be performed next month per the schedule (1st & 2nd Monday) so I don’t inconvenience anyone. Please welcome our new CSR for Hostcrate & DJ School Manager Priscilla Follet to the Hostcrate family! Also, congratulate Twylabear Resident for the manager position at Hostcrate (stream division). They both are here to help especially when I am unable to so don’t hesitate to contact them!

Rescheduled Reboot

There will be NO REBOOT today. It will be rescheduled for next Monday February 10th, 2020 at the same time per usual 5PM SLT! So, both servers will be rebooted on this day. If you don’t have premium support, you will need to log into your stream’s control panel & click the green start button to begin broadcasting again.

No Longer Using Skype

I am sad to say that we, Hostcrate, will no longer be using Skype. SOME staff may have it as an option but as a whole in the company, I will not be using it. Skype hasn’t been properly sending me your messages (until like a week later) and that is a major problem as you all are aware I answer quickly when I receive messages even while feeding my face! At 5pm SLT today, our scheduled reboots were completed. On January 6th, a notice was sent that the server 147 reboot was rescheduled for today so both servers were done. If you don’t have premium support, you must log into your control panel and click the green start button. Don’t forget to type in your information and never copy/paste. If you have premium support services, your stream has been started for you.
We do our very best to keep everyone informed by having multiple ways of checking from in Second Life group notices, inworld kiosk, our facebook page, and to this website. I do my best to send out reminder notices as well just in case anyone may have forgotten the maintenance schedule. I’m not sure how else to keep everyone informed so if there is another idea you wish for us to add please reach out to me directly with your suggestion. We never want anyone to feel left in the dark and that is the reason this website exists and all of the other options.

I will be rebooting both servers at 5PM SLT (PST). Typically this is the reboot day (2nd Monday of the month) for server ending in 242 BUT I missed last weeks reboot for server 147 due to RL so I will be doing that reboot today as well. If you have premium support your stream will be turned on for you just be patient. Monday, December 2nd, 2019 at 5PM SLT server IP ending in 147 will be rebooted. You will have to start your radio by logging into your control panel – That info will be located in your stream details notecard you received when you rented your stream. Never copy/paste, type it in. If you have premium support, your stream will be started for you.
The server ending in 242 will be rebooted on Monday, December 9th, 2019 at 5PM SLT.
